Mock Exam - Paper 2 Learner response

 1) Type up any feedback on your paper (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential). If you only have marks and a grade on the paper, write a WWW/EBI yourself based on your scores.

WWW: " What a fantastic effort from you! So much to credit but you clearly revised really well for the exam. So much subject knowledge displayed for example "male gaze" , " convergence"

EBI: Few careless mistakes for example Q1 and Q5. Ensure you are focusing on key words for example regulation. Compare to other CPS and how they are regulated or not.

55/85 - Grade 7

2) Use the mark scheme for this Paper 2 mock to read the answers AQA were looking for. First, write down a definition and example of non-diegetic sound (Q1.1 and 1.2).

diegetic: Sound which characters and audience can hear
non - diegetic : Sound only the audience can hear

Example for diegetic: footsteps , dialogue

3) Next, identify three points you could have made in Q1.3 - camerawork and the extract. Look for the indicative content in the mark scheme - these are the suggested answers from AQA.

- low angle of will - helpless , inferior
-Slow dolly track when sitting = relationship closer
-Faster dolly shot suggest she is in control and more powerful

4) Now look at Q1.4 in the mark scheme - pick out two points from the mark scheme that you could have included in your answer.

- Mise en scene - blue dungarees subverts feminine beauty ideals
- non verbal codes - wills facial expression - timid subverts masculine stereotypes

5) Focus on Q2 - the 20-mark essay on representations of age and social and cultural contexts. Pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your answer.

-His Dark materials - Mrs Coulter/Adults are corrupt and dishonest  vs teenagers more heroic
-Doctor Who- Status/authority commands respected. Teachers = more sincere ,respected and responsible

6) Turning your attention to Section B, write a definition and example of user-generated content - use the mark scheme to check it.

user generated content - Made by a user and belongs to them for example Instagram post

7) Look at Q4 - the 20-mark essay on the power of influencers . Pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your own answer.

-  Excellent, astute judgements and conclusions which focus on ‘power’
and which are consistently well supported by relevant examples.
- Consistent appropriate and effective use of subject specific
terminology throughout.
-Frequent appropriate and effective use of subject specific terminology.

8) Now look at Q5 - the 20-mark essay on regulation and the internet. Again, pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your own answer.

Excellent, valid and astute judgements and conclusions drawn, clearly
and consistently supported by relevant examples from the Close Study
Products
-Satisfactory judgements and conclusions drawn, sometimes supported
by examples from the Close Study Products
- Good knowledge and understanding of the contexts of the media,
demonstrated by frequently effective discussion of how media
contexts influence media texts

9) On a scale of 1-10 (1 = low, 10 = high), how much revision and preparation did you do for your Media mock exam? Be honest here - it's a good chance to think about how to approach the next set of mock exams.

- 7.5/10

10) List three key things you want to revise before the next mock exams in February (e.g. particular CSPs, terminology, exam technique etc.)

- Revise regulations to remember what each media text type such as films, magazine and video games are regulated by
- Revise other media CSPS such as video games and I Daniel Blake to use as an example in my answers and compare them to other CSPS.
