                                                        Reception Theory - Coco pops :   Preferred Reading : It looks suitable for kids to eat as breakfast.This is because the kids might be attracted to the bright yellow background.They might also like the carton and the big chocolate writing therefor parents would want to buy it since it's to their children liking. op positional Reading : The consumer might be a grown up and not interested in it since it's made to attract kids attention and not adults therefor some adult might thing it's childish and prefer to eat something more grown up. Negotiation Reading : The consumer might be tempted to try it however they might not be able to due to the cereal containing chocolate which the consumer might be allergic towards.Some other consumers might not want to eat it because of the milk containing lactose and intolerant that some people cannot  consume.

                                          Reception Theory - MacDonald's  Advert: Preferred Reading :The consumer might find it delicious because of the close up giving us a better look at it.The  melted cheese and the juicy meat might attract the eyes of the consumer and make them hungry.Therefor they might be tempted to try it  and would like to buy it Op positional  Reading :The consumer might be vegetarian and would not like to eat it because of the meat.Some other consumer might dislike meat or doesn't like cheese or lettuce with their big Mac.  Negotiation Reading :Some consumers may be tempted by The delicious looking big Mac however they would not like to try it depending on their culture factors or their religion.This is because if the consumer is Muslim they might wonder if the meat is halal or not.

  1)  Write down a  media product  for each category of Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory and  WHY  it fits that particular audience use/gratification.   1) Write a definition of a  passive  audience:  This is the view that audiences passively   take in information from the media and that these messages have the same effect on everyone. 2)  Write a definition of an  active  audience:  : This is the more modern and generally accepted view that audiences interact   with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume. 3) Write a definition of the  hypodermic needle  theory: This is the suggestion that audiences are always  passive  and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. 1) What is the preferred reading of a media text?  H ow the producer wants the audience to view the media. 2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text? W hen the audience rejects the preferred reading, and creates their own meaning for the text. 3) What do the producers of the trailer want the audience to think about the teenagers and young people in the film? The trailer wants to show and present the teenagers as aggressive and violet people.  4) Why might some young people feel the way teenagers are presented in the trailer is unfair?   Some young people might think the trailer is unfair  because not all young people are violent and aggressive and it is just a stereotype.
